The only problem is that I'm a pastor and a person (I've met a lot of pastors and the latter is not necessarily a given...) and I didn't know exactly what advent was.
What's worse- we've had an advent tree the last 2 years.

Latin adventus is the translation of the Greek word parousia, commonly used in reference to the Second Coming. Mark, This calendar has been an on and off again tradition in our home since Sarah was 5 years old. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
We've had requests for Advent books at the library lately and we don't seem to have too many--or they are buried in our Christmas section. Do you guys have any favorite picture books that explain Advent?
Mark, I have the Family Celebrations book and though late I am attempting to get it done tonight so we can use it the rest of the advent season, but my symbols do not have the colors marked on them, as the instrutions said they would. How did you pick the colors to use for each symbol?
